Overview:
The Donshi Community Mutual Aid Website is a project designed to establish a platform enabling communities to provide and receive mutual aid. Its core functionality features a website where users can post requests for assistance while others can offer help. The project aims to foster community spirit and support by connecting those in need with individuals willing to lend a hand. Its value proposition is centered around creating a centralized hub for mutual aid. This hub facilitates the exchange of help and resources within the community, utilizing a time-banking concept where time spent can be traded for services.
Motivation:
Since 2016, Taiwan has implemented the Long-Term Care 2.0 plan, a system for long-term care centered around the principle of “aging in place.” This system emphasizes three core concepts: “people-centered,” “community-based,” and “continuous care.” The goal is to establish a community-based long-term care system that provides high-quality, affordable, and widespread services.
However, in rural Taiwan, the delivery of long-term care services is limited by workforce and transportation constraints. The development of formal service provision may not keep pace with rapidly growing demand. Additionally, enabling people to live in their communities until the end of their lives involves more than just care services. Local communities might possess informal service resources that can meet these needs, and an information platform for these resources could immediately link supply and demand.
